Signs of a Mare close to foaling.

Here's a little video to help those of you who wish to know some of the signs of a mare approaching parturition (foaling).  Please note that all horses are different and until you observe your horse long enough you won't know exactly what kind of pattern she takes after.  This will be Charity's first foal so I have not yet learned her either. She might be one of those horses that just, bam! goes through all the hormonal changes in one evening and delivers the foal by my surprise or she could slowly make changes over several days.  But, we'll just have to see. :-) Enjoy!

Welcome to 2018!!!!

How excited we are to announce the soon coming of Charity's first foal!  This week we started to notice the baby kicking!!!!

   We have waited about 3 years for her to conceive so this is pretty exciting folks!  If you think of it, please say a prayer for Charity that the delivery would be smooth and without complications. 

Her diet consists of good, quality hay (alfalfa/grass mix), and a small scoop of a low starch feed mixed with red raspberry leaves.  Yummy!

My little dog, Katie Joy, loves to be near me when I'm out horsin' around. :)  I always enjoy her company.   And as you can see in the picture below our Shepherds, Duke and Sam like to be involved too!  :)

I'm hoping to get a video camera soon so that I can record the birth and share it here with you.  Stay in tune!!!!!

The Sparks Family Farm Goes to Tractor Supply!

 

Our family joined our local TSC store as they hosted a Farmer's Market for the community.

 

 We brought up our hand crafted goods ~ Western and Rustic décor, Jasmine's Country Mixes, Priscilla's Herbs, and Mom's sewing items and Lilla Rose hair accessories.  Thought we might as well bring a couple horses along too for some fun! :)  With permission from the manager we even took them in the store!!  He said it was the first time ever. :)

Meet our newest Mini Horses ~ Abe and Sarah!

                  Meet Sarah and Abraham, our two newest horses on the Sparks Family Farm! 

                            Jasmine giving Abe a welcoming kiss!  He is an adorable 29" gelding.  He was previously used part time as a therapy pony in a medical facility.

                                    Sarah, Abe's half sister, is a beautiful 29"miniature mare. 

  Carmen and Sarah ~ They make a perfect couple and I can't wait to see their offspring!  Sarah was bred with Carmen for a 2018 foal.  :)

Gracie was Sweetie's last foal.  I will certainly miss the beauty that she passed on. 

 

Tracker was such a sweet little boy and I know his new little owner will love him dearly. :)
